Former Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood charged with two more offences

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood, 68, has been charged with two further offences: indecently assaulting a girl aged 16 or 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991 and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in 2004. He will appear at Westminster magistrates court on a date to be fixed.

‘We demand the truth’: Olga Tokarczuk and JM Coetzee lead calls for proof of life of disappeared Eritrean writers

More than 180 writers, including Nobel laureates Olga Tokarczuk and JM Coetzee, have signed a PEN International letter to Eritrean president Isaias Afwerki demanding proof of life for 12 writers detained incommunicado since a 2001 crackdown on the independent press. Signatories include Ben Okri, Elif Shafak, Colm Toibin and Tsitsi Dangarembga.
